๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ This article is relevant only for accounts based in India with INR set as the Stripe account base currency

PLEASE NOTE: AT THE MOMENT IF YOUR ACCOUNT IS BASED IN INDIA, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCEPT PAYMENTS IN OTHER CURRENCIES WITH PAYTHEN. THE FEATURES BELOW ARE TEMPORARILY OFFLINE. WE ARE WORKING ON FIXING SOME BUGS.

Indian regulations require all non INR payments to provide additional information. This includes:

  1. The buyer's name

  2. The buyer's billing address (in a specific format)

  3. A description of the service

Without this additional information, payment attempts will fail. Paythen supports this requirement by automatically adding the required fields as custom fields in non INR plans created on an account whose base currency is INR.

When you create a new plan and choose another currency, you will see this message:

Paythen will automatically add all the fields you need to comply with these regulations as custom fields. Here's a preview of what your customers will see on the payment page:

The country field is a dropdown allowing your customers to choose their country. You can add additional context to each field by adding a description or placeholder text.

โš ๏ธ To ensure the payment succeeds, please do not change or edit the labels for these fields. If you change the labels, or change these fields to optional, payments attempts will fail. This is because the fields are required in very specific formats which we have pre-configured for you. Changing the labels interferes with the formatting.

As an admin, you don't need to do anything differently โ€“ you just create your plan as usual and on the plan payment page, your customers will be asked to provide these additional fields.

We automatically pass these fields in the required format to Stripe so they are compliant.
